The key element of our work is to help our children to develop through curriculum enrichment activities.
We do this work by working closely with each other as a collaborative of seven schools. This includes five primary schools, a special school and a secondary school.
We are located in London Borough of Hillingdon, in the wards of Townfield and Yeading. These wards are the most disadvantaged in Hillingdon and recognised as amongst the most deprived in the national deprivation indices.
The schools in our collaborative are:-
- Brookside Primary School
- Dr Triplett's Church of England Primary School
- Guru Nanak Sikh (VA) Primary School
- Guru Nanak Sikh (VA) Secondary School
- Minet Infant and Nursery School
- Minet Junior School
- The Willows School
Our activities include the following and which we are continuing to develop.
- The purchase of transport vehicles to take our children to trips away from the school during term and holiday times.
- Running of arts and crafts activities. Sometimes children get a chance to do arts and crafts at each other's school in the collaborative. This helps and gives them a chance to meet other children from different religious and, ethnic and diverse groups.
- We realise that parents and the families of children of our schools are important to us in helping their children to do well. Therefore to help our parents we have started free english and computer classes for them as well as classes that helps them to brush up on their maths skills.
- We have trips to museums, art galleries, theme parks, country walks and other fun things during the holidays.
- We had professional football coaching sessions from the likes of former Liverpool FC stars, such as Bruce Grobbelar. Recently we had Queens Park Rangers (QPR) doing football coaching sessions in the holidays.
- We also run breakfast clubs where there is demand for working families to drop off their children early so that they can get to work on time.
- All our clubs run after school, after they have done all their subjects.
The level and the amount of work that we will be doing in the next few months will be increasing as a result of additional funding that we have secured from charitable trusts, the local authorities and also time and energy from our volunteers.
